Day one of South West Tour
Our room is a pleasant surprise, the size of the comfy grade room is generous. There was plenty of space for the camp bed for our daughter and a bath!
Time to explore, we had a lovely walk through the grounds, searching for the pigs shown on the map our daughter received in our room. We discovered the two potting shed treatment rooms which are set in a quiet area away from the kitchen garden. There is also a hidden tennis court and mushroom growing room.
After that bit of exercise, time for a drink on the terrace, a very pretty bar with a good choice of drinks. Then back to the room for a rest before dinner.
At dinner we were lucky enough to be seated in the conservatory overlooking the terrace and lawn. The menu is based on a 25 mile radius for supplies with a good selection from the garden. The highlight was the hock egg from the bite size menu, in fact all the pork dishes were delicious. Our daughter chose from the children’s menu which was a hearty portion size even for an 11yr old. She also got to choose each element rather than selecting a set dish which is a great idea.
Looking forward to a good nights sleep and a hearty breakfast tomorrow.
