We spent 4 days in the wonderful walled city of Dubrovnik and then took the ferry to the lovely island of Hvar. We stayed in a hotel which was 10 minutes walk from Dubrovnik and walked the city walls and also took a cable car to get an aerial view of the city. There is a great selection of restaurants to choose from. There are chic boutiques, modern hotels and stylish bars. You also have the beaches of the Riviera on your doorstep. After a few days we took the ferry to Hvar and stayed at the lovely harbour town of Hvar.

There are several islands to visit by boat where you can spend a lazy afternoon sampling delicious food and soaking up the sun. Return to the islands in the evening and dance well into the early hours! We visited the Old Town with the 16th Cathedral and climbed the steps to the Castle from the main square which gave us fantastic views of the harbour.

My travel career began as a freelance Travel Consultant within a small company and after a number of years I became a partner of the company. However, six years ago, I decided to start my own company - hence the birth of Spirit Away Travel.

I have been lucky enough to enjoy skiing, sailing, family holidays and in more recent times rather more exotic destinations. The company is based at my home which gives me the flexibility of working as and when required with no time restraints. I am always available to speak to clients as I appreciate it's not always easy during working hours to discuss holiday arrangements.

There is so much to see in the world and so little time - the older I get the more interesting the world becomes and the more places I want to visit. Thankfully, working in the travel industry allows me to indulge my passion and in turn to pass my experiences onto my clients.

It was the Dalai Lama who said "Once a year go somewhere you've never been before".
